How to Join
Unlike other historical or costume societies, The British Guild of Historical Costume Makers is free to join and doesn't have a formal membership process. Anyone can join the Guild provided that they:
Are aged 18 or over.
Are passionate about, and are actively engaged in, sewing and historical research (either as a professional or a hobbyist).
Have completed one historical garment (this could be something as simple as a chemise).
There are a number of ways to join the Guild:
Join our Discord server. This online 'chatroom' is our main method of communication, and members use it daily to discuss their latest projects, share recent research, and discuss upcoming events.
Subscribe to our mailing list. We regularly send out details of upcoming events, and copies of our official newsletter: The Reticule.
Attend an event. For some of our events, such as our picnics, you can turn up on the day. For others that require a booking, you can RSVP by following the instructions on the relevant event page.
