Wollaton Hall, Nottinghamshire, UK
We made a long overdue return to Wollaton Hall — a fine late Elizabethan house, built in the 1580s by the architect who would go on to build Hardwick Hall — for a picnic, having first visited as a group three years ago.
Attendees wore costume spanning a broad range of historical eras, from the 1750s through to the 1890s.

A small but perfectly formed gathering in the grounds of Wollaton Hall
We picnicked in the formal gardens by the Camellia house — which dates from 1823, and is the only of its kind in the UK to survive — before exploring the beautiful grounds and posing for photographs.
